Autistic spectrum disorders (ASD): Triad of impaired reciprocal social interaction, impaired imagination, restricted repertoires of activities & interests. Idiopathic & also link with testosterone-mercury toxicity.

Constipation & soiling: Poor food, fluid or fibre intake = causes – rarely Hirchsprungs (with FTT, diarrhoea & constip.)

Dyspraxia: verbal/motor

Encopresis: Repeated passage of solid faeces in the wrong place >4yo, faecal retention = central cause

Global developmental delay: causes x-rays, alcohol, CMV, birth trauma, F distress, hypoxia, hypoglycaemia, Klinefelter’s.

CPalsy: chronic disorders of posture & movement caused by non-progressive CNS lesions sustained <2yo _ delayed motor development, evolving CNS signs, learning disability & epilepsy

Primary enuresis: Bedwetting, 15% of 5yo & 3% of 15yo, usually due to delayed maturation of bladder control (FHx)

Secondary enuresis: >6/12 of being dry.

Pica: eating things which are not food (from the Latin word for magpie, kown for its indiscriminate appetite)
